What is the Scalby Village Trust?
We aim to protect and promote the character and amenities around the villages of Scalby and Newby and to preserve land and buildings of beauty or historic interest. In short, we want to keep Scalby and Newby special.
We do this by:
Listening to the needs of the locality and lobbying Scarborough Borough Council (SBC), politicians and others on behalf of residents.
Promoting flexible use of large or public buildings for the benefit of our communities.
Routinely screening all planning applications, submitting comments to the Borough Council or North
York Moors National Park & providing historic records for the Planning Appeals inspector.
Promoting sympathetic local developments and lobbying against inappropriately large schemes within the villages.
|
Campaigning for the use of traditional building materials within the conservation area.
Providing local knowledge to help the statutory authorities deal with issues, including traffic flow, parking, etc.
Arranging public lectures each year on issues of interest to local residents.
Fostering strength through links with other similar organisations locally, regionally and nationally.
